Rosary rally held inside the State House
It’s not often that you see a statue of Our Lady of Fatima displayed in the halls of the State House in Augusta, but that is what happened on February 26 when a group of more than 40 people gathered in the Hall of Flags to pray the Rosary.
The rally was organized by young adults from Prince of Peace Parish in Lewiston and was an opportunity to pray for the needs of our state and our world.
“I came for a chance to pray the Rosary in a public setting, especially for our state and especially considering the direction our state is going,” said Ciara Spofford, from Prince of Peace Parish.
“I’m here because I strongly think that the right to life issue is the most important issue of our times. I think if you don’t protect human life, then we’re just the blind leading the blind,” said Kevin Koski, from Augusta. “We need to stand up for the dignity of human life from conception to natural death. And I think prayer, fellowship, and community are the best ways we can achieve this goal.”
Bishop James Ruggieri was among those participating in the rally, along with Representative John Ducharme from Madison, Senator Sue Bernard of Aroostook County, and members of the Knights of Columbus and Maine Right to Life.
